Nautilus – Disney+/AMC

Nautilus is a bold reimagining of Jules Verne’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea—a sweeping adventure set in the Victorian era, starring Shazad Latif as Captain Nemo, with guest appearances by Richard E. Grant and Noah Taylor. As Costume Designer, I blended historical detail with a modern visual language, creating a world both grounded in the 19th century and resonant with contemporary audiences.

The costumes reflected the series’ deeper themes—female empowerment, education, and the biodiversity of our oceans—through intricate design. Benoit’s hand-embroidered waistcoat told its own story in sea motifs, while Humility’s delicate seahorse bracelet served as both adornment and symbol. Even the custom-built dive suits echoed deep-sea crustaceans, with articulated plating that moved like the creatures they were inspired by. Each piece helped immerse the viewer in a world as imaginative as it was meaningful.
