Banished, written by acclaimed screenwriter Jimmy McGovern, is a gripping historical drama set in 1788 during the brutal first days of British colonisation in Australia. Focused on the lives of convicts and soldiers struggling to survive in an unfamiliar land, the series explores themes of power, punishment, and resilience. My costume design aimed to capture the rawness of the era—from threadbare convict clothing to the stark military uniformity—reflecting a world forged in hardship and moral complexity.
